Randomized comparison of strategies for reducing treatment in mild persistent asthma
Article Abstract:
A study to determine if patients with asthma using inhaled corticosteroids twice daily could receive a step-down treatment with once-daily montelukast or once-daily fluticasone propionate plus salmeterol is conducted. Results show that a switch to montelukast resulted in an increased rate of treatment failure and decreased asthma control.
